Saint Paul, Minn. – Women Winning announced today the endorsement of Vicki Jensen for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District. If elected, Jensen will become the first woman to represent the district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Vicki has been a consistent, dedicated advocate for women and families and has championed issues like equal pay, domestic violence prevention, and education,” said Lauren Beecham, Women Winning Executive Director. “As State Senator, she worked across the aisle to get things done for her constituents and we know that she will continue that legacy as a U.S. Congresswoman. Vicki’s practical, common-sense approach resonates with voters and she has the grassroots support necessary to win in November. We have been proud to provide resources and guidance to Vicki’s campaign from the beginning and this formal endorsement is just the next step in Women Winning’s support. We look forward to watching the Jensen Campaign grow even stronger in advance of her party’s endorsing convention.”

Vicki Jensen grew up in Southern Minnesota and, as a lifelong member of the community, is uniquely prepared to represent the First Congressional District in Washington. Raised on a small family farm and a former farm owner herself, she has a background in agriculture and a deep understanding of the policies that directly impact her district’s residents. During her tenure as State Senator, she advocated for agriculture property tax cuts and the protection of landowner rights, and co-authored a broadband internet funding bill. A small business owner, she recognizes the importance of policies that foster economic growth and strengthen infrastructure in Greater Minnesota.

“I am grateful for Women Winning’s early support of my campaign, and am honored to receive Women Winning’s endorsement and to add the organization to a growing list of supporters,” Jensen said. “Since I launched my campaign, I’ve traveled from Luverne to La Crescent and everywhere in between, and have been inspired by the stories and ideas people across the district have shared. As a U.S. Congresswoman, I will continue to listen to and build relationships with my constituents and it will be my privilege to carry their stories with me to Washington.”
