Last week, Women Winning celebrated incredible Election Day victories. We are writing today with more news worth celebrating. After a successful four months as Interim Executive Director, it is our pleasure to announce that Meggie Wittorf will become permanent Executive Director of Women Winning.
Meggie started at Women Winning shortly before the August Primary Election and successfully guided the organization through one of our most important election seasons to date. Not only did Meggie help drive and exceed fundraising, communications, and political goals, 58 Women Winning-endorsed candidates were elected in the November Midterm Election. Meggie brings bold, purposeful vision to plans for 2019, 2020, and beyond, and we look forward to her leadership as Women Winning begins an exciting new chapter.
Meggie is a marketing and strategy leader and a lifelong equity advocate, who has a passion for politics and improving our communities. She brings nearly ten years of experience as a finance professional and brand manager at General Mills, where she managed P&Ls, developed strategic plans, and led cross-functional teams. Meggie is also a board member of OutFront Minnesota, where she works to protect and strengthen LGBTQ rights.
Meggie holds an undergraduate degree from Drake University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. While at the U of M, she led the Women’s Mentorship program where she focused on addressing challenges in the opportunity pipeline, improving gender balance in higher-education programs, and securing mentors in underrepresented fields.
The successes of 2018 mark the beginning of a new era in pro-choice women’s political leadership and the opportunities ahead are great. We look forward to working with Meggie as our organization continues to grow and build. Please join us and the entire Board of Directors in officially welcoming Meggie to Women Winning!
