Today, Women Winning, announced the endorsement of nine pro-choice women running for the Minnesota Legislature in 2020.

“Now more than ever, it is abundantly clear we must have our best advocates in elected office, making critical decisions at every level of government. Women Winning is proud to endorse nine impressive pro-choice women running to flip seats in the Minnesota Legislature this March,” said Meggie Wittorf, Executive Director of Women Winning. “Running for office is exceptionally demanding under normal circumstances, and campaigning amidst a pandemic requires unprecedented resilience, compassion, and strength. These candidates are rising to the occasion and demonstrating incredible leadership. Women Winning is proud to stand with them at this pivotal moment, and we’ll be with them all the way to November.”

Women Winning is proud to endorse four pro-choice women running for Minnesota Senate:
Sarah Kruger, Minnesota Senate District 28
Nancy McLean, Minnesota Senate District 39
Addie Miller, Minnesota Senate District 47
Sahra Odowa, Minnesota Senate District 55

Women Winning is proud to endorse five pro-choice women running for Minnesota House of Representatives:
Tamara Calhoun, Minnesota House District 14A
Elise Diesslin, Minnesota House District 21B
Heather Keeler, Minnesota House District 4A
Mindy Kimmel, Minnesota House District 16B
Erin Preese, Minnesota House District 58A

Women Winning’s March endorsees join a formidable slate of pro-choice women running for the Minnesota Legislature in 2020: Women Winning has endorsed 22 pro-choice women running for the Minnesota Senate and 39 pro-choice women running for the Minnesota House of Representatives. Women Winning will continue to make endorsements throughout the year.

All nine candidates are running to flip seats held by anti-choice incumbents. With emboldened threats to choice at the federal level and anti-choice elected officials across the country exploiting the coronavirus pandemic to restrict access to abortion, state legislatures play a critical role in protecting access to reproductive healthcare. Women Winning’s targeted endorsement program aims to ensure pro-choice women, the strongest advocates for reproductive rights, are equally represented at all levels of government.
