Marny Xiong is a first-time candidate running for one of three open seats on the Saint Paul Public School Board. Marny is a Hmong American woman born in Saint Paul and proud alumna of Saint Paul Public Schools. Growing up poor in an immigrant household, she knows first-hand how public education was the only opportunity for her family to break out of poverty. After graduating from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, she organized with TakeActionMN and SEIU-Healthcare to fight for economic justice and racial equity. She is currently a School Manager with Minneapolis Public Schools where she manages the finance, safety and operations of a school building. She also serves on the board of her neighborhood council in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood. With her passion and experience combined, Marny is running for office to ensure equitable solutions are made to uplift students and families.
