Marion is running for her first reelection as Hennepin County Commissioner after winning in a special election earlier this year. She grew up travelling the world, living in India, Morocco, Brazil and Pakistan in her youth. She went on to work at the Center for Science in the Public Interest developing organic standards and for the Friends Committee on National Legislation. She has a strong background in grassroots organizing for Democratic campaigns. Upon moving to Minnesota, Marion became active with the DFL. She served as a representative in the Minnesota State House from 2010-2012. Marion attributes much of her passion for public service to her time on the boards of OutFront Minnesota and Minnesotans United for All Families, especially as both groups worked toward defeating the amendment to ban same-sex marriage in 2012. As County Commissioner, she will work towards improving healthcare, early childhood education, access to reproductive healthcare, accommodations for retirees, alleviating homelessness, increasing transit options and expanding library hours.
