Ellen Breyer

Ellen Breyer is the former CEO of the Hazelden Foundation, one of the world’s largest non-profit addiction treatment centers. The creation of the Women’s Center and the development of the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies were milestones during her tenure. Named Administrator of the Year in 2005 by The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, Ellen was also recognized by the Minnesota Business Journal and for her leadership at Hazelden.Previously, Ellen held senior positions in Minnesota and New York, including Marketing Director for Godiva where responsibility for growing a global food brand sparked her interest in international issues. Ellen currently serves on the board of the Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable, a forum for the advancement of women in our community. While MWER President, Ellen collaborated with St Catherine University to produce the annual Minnesota Census of Women in Corporate Leadership. Ellen’s interest in the advancement and welfare of women extends to developing countries as well. She has authored microfinance training curriculum, and served on the board of Freedom from Hunger, an economic development NGO. Ellen is a guarantor with MCE Social Capital, an Impact Investment Fund.
