Laurie is running for a third term in the Minnesota State House. She is a great example of how important it is to ask women to run. Laurie was encouraged to run for the seat in 2012 by a member of her book club, which happens to also include a member of the womenwinning board. Her friends saw that Laurie would make a great candidate because of her passion, negotiating skills, and understanding of the issues that matter in her community. Her legislative priorities include early childhood education, minimizing student debt, and working with homeless youth, especially in underserved Twin Cities suburbs. Previous to her time in the legislature, Laurie served as chair of the Eagan Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and on the board of the Eagan Foundation.
