ABOUT US
The mission of womenwinning is to encourage, promote and support pro-choice women's leadership in all political parties and levels of public office.
womenwinning was established in 1982 by a group of 25 bi-partisan women who wanted to increase the number of women in public office. In 1999, the organization created a 501c4 non-profit organization to continue raising awareness of the importance of electing women to public office. Today, we operate the non-profit as well as connected State and Federal political action committees.
When first created, womenwinning was one of a handful of fledgling organizations intent on leveling the playing field between men and women seeking elected office. Now, 27 years later, it is the largest and most influential statewide women's PAC and has established its viability and strong impact in Minnesota's political arena. Since 1982, it has given more than $1 million to more than 1000 women's campaigns through direct contributions and support for training and recruitment. It was one of the top ten women's political action committees giving nationally during 2008.
During that time, the percentage of women state legislators, county commissioners and mayors have all doubled. In coalition with women activists and leaders through the past two decades, the Campaign Fund has helped lead an incredibly successful process for recruiting and electing women candidates.
While the playing field of politics has not yet been leveled, the process is underway. Not content with the status quo, the Campaign Fund is constantly initiating new means of achieving its objective of political eqaulity.
