TARRYL CLARK IS THE CANDIDATE WHO WILL DEFEAT MICHELE BACHMANN
HISTORY OF WINNING TOUGH FIGHTS
Tarryl Clark has never been afraid of taking on the tough fights. She ran for State Senate in a conservative district and won twice – against all odds – by working hard, organizing at the grassroots level and articulating our values. When the Republican attacks came, she stood up and fought back. In the State Senate, she’s taken on the big banks and insurance companies, and has stood up for Minnesota families, seniors and veterans. She is the candidate with the experience and skills needed to take on Michele Bachmann – and win.
A PROVEN VOTE-GETTER
Tarryl has won two tough races in a conservative area by winning the votes not only of Democrats, but of Republicans and independents too. In her 2006 re-election, she received 57% of the vote – getting more votes than anyone else on the ballot that year – in a district that the average Democrat can only expect to win 49% of the vote, and where Tim Pawlenty won in 2006 and Norm Coleman won in 2008. Even today, half of the district is represented by a Republican in the legislature. Tarryl is the only candidate with a proven ability to get votes and win tough races.
A RECORD OF RESULTS
Tarryl Clark has built a record throughout her career that voters in the 6th District will identify with. For 20 years, she worked for and led foundations and non-profit organizations, from the YWCA and Girl Scouts to Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity (which she co-founded) and the Northwest Area Foundation. For seven years, she served as the Executive Director of Minnesota Community Action Partnership, where she faced the same challenges faced by every small business. In the Senate, she’s become known as a strong leader, a skilled communicator, and someone who can deliver for the people she represents. Her track record of working on growing jobs, protecting health care access and making it affordable, investing in education and transportation, and working for seniors and veterans will be a welcome alternative to Michele Bachmann’s do-nothing record in Congress.
AN UNPRECEDENTED GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN
Tarryl has built the kind of grassroots campaign needed to win in the 6th District, with well over 7,000 individuals having contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars – giving on average less than $100 – and thousands mo
re signed up. There are hundreds of active volunteers working alongside an experienced staff who knows how to win in this District – staff who’ve worked for Sens. Wellstone, Klobuchar and Franken, President Obama and other DFLers across the state.
BROAD SUPPORT
Every organization that has endorsed in this race is supporting Tarryl – now over two dozen – because she is the candidate who will beat Michele Bachmann, and because they know where she stands on the issues and that she’ll fight for us in Congress – because that’s what she’s done her whole life. Together, these organizations represent roughly 100,000 voters in the 6th District.
